The Interplay: 2004

Concept: The Interplay is a bench design based on the mechanics of a see-saw with the objective of encouraging positive interaction in closed public spaces such as college campuses . When there is more than one person seated, each is responsible for the comfort of the other. It is a metaphor for our society which works best when we are concerned with the comfort of our neighbor.

Sample bench I built and put in its environment to see how students interacted with it. After this test, I lengthed the bench and put a back on it.
